Community Partner for Visions in Education Independent Study Program

Community Partner Leah Newton works with students in the Independent Study program through Visions in Education in Northern California. This artwork is a sampling from students enrolled in Art 1 at Visions in Education.

Unit 1 – Introduction to the Visual Arts

Students distinguish between representational, abstract and non-objective art and create a representational piece with an emphasis on texture.

Unit 2 – Elements of Art and Principles of Design

Students use color, shape, space, balance, rhythm, and contrast in a non-objective piece of artwork. Students studied the Art Master Sonia Delaunay and made artwork in her style.
